FPMI's Impression Hits Commercial Market
FPMI’s Courseware, Simulation, and Training Group is pleased to announce the immediate public
availability of its ImpressionTM Learning Content Framework (LCF) courseware development system
The Impression LCF is a modular, open-architecture Learning Content Management System (LCMS), and is capable
of producing courseware to be delivered on CD-ROM or over the Internet.Impression’s vendor-neutral approach allows
created courseware to interface with SCORM, AICC, or proprietary Learning Management Systems (LMS)
The Impression LCF includes the Impression Content Creation Tool (CCT), a rich-client solution for creating
e-learning. The CCT provides courseware developers with an experience that not only emphasizes ease of use,
but offers creation process workflow capabilities not found in traditional, web-based LCMS systems, including
autosave, one-click preview, a multiple-level undo/redo buffer, and inline spell checking
The Impression Runtime Engine Developer’s Kit (RTE DevKit) provides software developers with the tools, samples,
and documentation necessary to quickly and easily create high-quality engines to play content developed with the CCT.
The heart of the RTE DevKit is the Impression RTE Base Class Framework, a collection of nearly 40 Adobe FlashTM
ActionScript classes designed to manage and present data, control student actions and content flow, and interface with
external assets and systems. This framework-driven architecture removes typical LCMS restraints on capabilities and
content features and allows customers to focus on product design, not workarounds
Used by FPMI and delivered to select customers for the past four years, the Impression LCF has a solid track record of success.
By making this product available for commercial sale, FPMI is exporting its strong process and proven capabilities to the general public.
